High Calorie Recipes
Below is a list of high calorie recipes contributed by parents that many children enjoy. It's important to incorporate a number of fattening foods into your child's diet so they can grow and gain weight well. You can also get creative by adding some of the
calorie boosters
to some of your favorite recipes. Dry milk powder, duocal, and small amounts of oil can usually be added to food without a noticable difference in flavor or consistency. Try it and tell us what you come up with!
If you make your child something he loves that you feel other children may enjoy, share your recipes with us by filling out the form below. We will be happy to post it for other parents to try. If you have found one from a cookbook please tell us which cookbook you got it from and the author of the book.
If your recipe is allergy free or free of gluten or casein, please note this as well. It will be a great help for parents of children with food allergies to know which ones are allergy free and safe for their children to eat.
If you have tried a recipe listed here we would love to hear what your child thought of it and if you tweaked it at all to change the flavor or nutrient composition. Give us your feedback!
Please include your name if you would like credit for your contribution. Our goal is to have enough recipes to make an ebook for everyone to download and try. Thank you for your contribution!

"I just want to say: Although the sudden plunge into no Vital Jr and no baby formula was cold turkey and not easy and super scary for me, a month later, I can say that my son looks really, really good physically, is now maintaining weight, and obviously feels a little more light and happy in his physical actions. Regardless of whether the GFCF diet will end up being necessary, I am thrilled beyond words that he eats REAL FOOD, not chemicals. The lighter, more frequent meals make me feel like I am finally not causing GERD and constipation faster than I can medicate it. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your help! I truly could not have done it without your help. And I feel confident that with continued tweaking with you his diet can get in more calories and complete nutrition, which makes me feel so good as a mother (especially of a chronically malnourished child, even in utero) that I am finally actually nourishing my child."
