Parent Tube Feeding Advice

Do you want to hear experienced parent tube feeding advice? If you are considering having your child tube fed but want to hear what other parents have to say first, you've come to the right place!

The process can be a difficult one, and whether you are able to make the decision to tube feed or really have no choice, these parents have shared their experiences, the good, bad and ugly, to help you know what you are getting into and let you know you are not alone, they have been there and done that.

We surveyed caregivers to find what advice they had to tell other parents in similar situations. Please consider all situations are different. As you will see, many parents had very different tube feeding stories, , opinions and outcomes, but this is a great place to look at your options and see how real parents who have children who are G-tube and J-tube fed feel.

From tips, to things the doctors didn't tell you to personal stories, these caregivers have shared the best and worst of G-tube feeding to give you a wide range of views and opinions.

Thank you to all the caregivers who participated in giving their advice, and I hope if you are here trying to decide what to do this is helpful.

If you have a story about your child's tube feeding experience that isn't included in the articles above, share it with us! We would love to have have as many parent stories as possible to give others an honest view of what life is really like after the tube is placed.

Some parents will tell you it was the best decision they ever made, improving their child's health and making everyone's life less stressful, while others will say it was a horrible experience and was more trouble then it was worth. What do you think? If you are a parent who has experience with tube feeding, let us know your opinion!

"My son Larry was born with a diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) and has been primarily tube fed for 2 years. Although he was gaining weight Larry was constantly retching on tube feeds. With your help we were able to identify when the retching occurred most frequently. We were doubtful your suggestions to change the rate, times and amounts of tube feeds would work, but sure enough, Larry has gone from retching 7 times a day to just 1. My family is so grateful to you for all the help you have given us." See more testimonials.
